Unsorted, so far

Dave Smith was Bill Bean's uncle. He was a principal photographer for J.C. Agajanian. Most of these photos, the original 8" x 10" enlargements of which Bill Bean gave to me, were made at Carrell Speedway, Gardena, California.

I had posted them to an album on photo-hosting service FotoTime's Web location. Many, many viewers with knowledge of the events and people added comments and information, and identified most of the people depicted.

All that information was lost when, overnight, FotoTime dissolved its service, taking all the accumulated data with it. My backups were current in 2008, but consisted entirely of images. Sorry.

If you can provide any useful material with regard to these Dave Smith photographs, please email it to me at frank@fsheff.com

Do you think the man leaning in at our left could be Peter de Paolo, the great racer from years past?

Nice shot of a couple of (at that time) strangers in a strange land. In its earlier life on FotoTime someone had named these car/driver combinations.

Yes, it's Phil Hill racing in a foreign-car event, clockwise at Carrell Speedway, 1940s

Three handsome gentlemen: Mr J.C. Agajanian; a professional TV wrestler whose very familiar name I'm currently blocking; a man I seem to remember was identified as Mr Agajanian's brother

Here you have hatted J.C. Agajanian with a hand on Indy-winner Troy Ruttman's shoulder, joined by boxing champion Art Aragon and (I've forgotten).
In the olden days pre-mechanical-garbage-disposal, every kitchen sink had a trriangular basket in its corner. That's where the wet garbage went, emptied into a galvanized pail or bucket, collected weekly and fed to pigs at a farm in Torrance, more-or-less in the area where Parnelli Jones' shop/museum is today. The pig farmer was J.C. Agajanian. As racing fans, we should be grateful to pigs.

I think I remember someone saying this was not at Carrell; background terrain suggested Huntington Beach?
