Are you sure you want to see this...?

(New and large display of Memorabilia that could be seen in the
Riverside International Automotive Museum, while it existed.
Gone now, all the contents dispersed and disposed of to/in unknown locations)

Here it was, in all its glory: Towngate Community Center (Formerly Moreno Valley Community Center), 13100 Arbor Park Ln, Moreno Valley, CA 92553, home of the Riverside International Raceway Memorial and Memorabilia Display. It's the building caught within the angles of the striped parking lots.

The wider, arced road, upper left, is Eucalyptus Avenue, that used to be RIR's business-workers gate access. Now it bends around to form the south side of the boat-shaped feature that intersects where the main straight used to run

Artist's rendering of the proposed location of the proposed Monument

A closer view
An even closer view

Photo of the Monument model, approved by (?) and anticipating production
Some people invested a great deal in this project

Photo of the actual Community Center, Moreno Valley, December 11, 2006

These photos made during a visit by my sister Sandy and I on our father's birthday

The doors were locked, late morning on a weekday, if I recall correctly
We knocked and a lady emerged from the depths of an unseen room

Turns out she was a teacher, overseeing a class of pre-schoolers
I guess she considered us harmless, because she unlocked and let us in for an unsupervised tour

Looks as if maximum occupancy is 109?

View of the entry through the front double door

Other side of the entry
Note the racing-themed countertop, left side
You have now seen practically all of the collection on display

Organizer of the exhibit might have been a NASCAR fan
The only direct communicatio to a visitor mentions no other organization

A nice piece, could be larger
Part of a Press Kit?
Now we're getting somewhere: money sources and sanctioning organizations can be identified
An actual exhibit
Nice piece
More pretty good stuff
Some detail from another wall
More detail, including the Certificate Of Occupancy
Some familiar faces
More faces, smaller but more numerous and eclectic
An F-5000 podium, 1972 if I'm not mistaken
Sam Posey, Loretta Swit ("Hotlips Houlihan" in another universe), Brian Redman, Yolanda Veloz (daughter of noted dance team Veloz and Yolanda), third-place finisher Graham McRae
There you have it
Perhaps appropriate that a remaining piece of the Raceway is mis-labled
