Julian Classic Motoring Show to Benefit Firefighters
The
San Diego, California historic gold rush town of Julian will host its first annual
"Julian Independence Celebration Classic Automobile Show" on July 3, 2004 at Julian's
Menghini Winery. Select classic touring and vintage racing cars from the turn-of-the-century
through the 1960s are being invited to the show. Members of the Petersen Automotive
Museum and the Historic Motor Sports Association are taking part, along with special
vintage automobiles and motorcycles from Southern California.
A highlight
for participants will be a Saturday night "Great Gatsby Reception" at the Pine
Hills Lodge. Participants and their guests will be encouraged to wear 1920's era
dress, or white clothing, in the spirit of "The Great Gatsby." Participants are
also invited to drive their cars in Sunday's July 4th Parade.
Owners
of pre-1970 vintage race or classic touring cars, or "special interest" classic
cars of any age, who would like to display their car on Saturday, July 3,
can request an entry for packet by contacting the Julian Classic Motoring Society
at julianautoshow@netscape.net or by calling 760-765-2072.
The public
is invited to view the cars and meet with the owners at the grounds of the Menghini
Winery from 10am to 4 pm on July 3rd, and also after the Julian Independence Day
Parade. Spectators may wish to stay the night in one of Julian's local hotels
or bed-&-breakfast homes and watch the July 4th Parade through town on Sunday
at noon. For lodging information call 760-765-1857. The classic automobile show
and Independence Day Parade are free to spectators.
