If you have time and are inclined to spend some of it looking at hand-held
8mm footage of slaloming (that's what it was called before "autocross"
dropped out of the void) during the period 1965 - 1974-or-so. I can't
explain many of the inconsistencies among the reels, other than to
mention the camera operator was a young man with a camera, and not
much of a sense of trivial history. For example, one or more of the
reels shows slaloming on a medium-to-small course in a parking lot
at Cubic Corp, Balboa Avenue. Within the two or three months just
passed (June, 2021), new, modern, impressive buildings have filled
all the empty space around there. I don't remember which reel has
the Cubic stuff, and I'm not currently interested in looking it up.
(looked but didn't find it) (it's around here somewhere)

HERE IT IS <--- Notice all the open ground at the [south]
side of the lot. Different world back then)
You might notice the ubiquity of Corvettes. They did dominate, both
in performance and influence in the Rules Committees: At one moment
back then, it seemed as if there was a class for each Corvette that
showed up.
