I guess they would be found in the pits:

This is decscribed as " . . . an excellent 1/43 scale model of a Scuderia Ferrari Fiat/Bartoletti 642 N 2 Race Transporter that was used by the Ferrari Racing Team from 1957 through 1965." I bought this one on eBay. Opening bid $89.99, Buy It Now for $150.00. I don't remember what I paid, but it seemed good, since the deal was for the transporter and three cars, which you can see here. That's a shark-nose F-1 car behind the California Sebring racer.

There was one at auction on eBay, ended October 21, 2001. Opening bid $89.99, Buy It Now for $150.00.

December 17, 2003: these are proliferating, and the price is coming down. I tried to buy a yellow one, and a "classy Dk gray" one, but was a day too late.

Michael T. Lynch's American Sports Car Racing In The 1950s book has a couple of photos of what may have been just such a vehicle (or its close relative) before Lance Reventlow got his hands on it. Go to the "Photos" page and look at the two in the bottom row of thumbnails.

There are some other photos of transport vehicles on Al Long's site, among many other interesting images, and a thread with many more leads to such, at Atlas F1 Nostalgia Forum.

This was titled "Targa Florio 1963."

Somehow I missed the description of this closed transporter.
I have discovered it is a Rolfo OM150, ca. 1970, and obtained a copy by Old Cars.
